In today’s modern environment, choosing and buying a laptop is becoming increasingly difficult and stressfu. The explosive growth of neural networks has created a shortage of RAM and other chips, components have risen in price. And what about laptops? After all, many users prefer them for office work and web surfing. The Ninkear brand has released an update of the N16 Pro office (not gaming) laptop with a high-quality 16" screen (IPS 120 Hz with 2.5K resolution). This model is built on a powerful Intel I7-12700H processor, the base has 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, but there is room for upgrade (in terms of RAM and SSD). A laptop is quite a universal tool for work and study, but not without nuances. Let's see its capabilities in the review below (with disassembly).

Specifications

Packaging & Package Contents

ThIS laptop model comes in two boxes, the packaging is elegant in appearance, accessories in the lower tier and in a separate box (with mouse and pad as a "gift"):

We got stickers as gift, and the design of charge is very attractive; a 65 watts charger with a nice cable all white colour.

Single Port Type-C Power Adapter:

The mouse (wired) has become more comfortable, the dimensions are 11x5x3 cm.

Design and Interfaces

The Ninkear N16 Pro laptop is available only in steel gray, the top cover is aluminum, the bottom is made with plastic. The thickness is 2 cm, excluding rubber feet. There is a recess for opening with one hand. This is a model with Keyboard Russian characters + large touchpad with fingerprint sensor (148x96 mm).

The measured weight is exactly 1.7 kg. The keyboard has two levels of LED backlighting.

The opening angle of the N16 Pro case halves is 150 degrees.

The screen has a matte finish (and this is great), a 1 MP camera without a curtain.

Let's take a look at the ports on the sides of the case:

The main focus is on a pair of USB-C connectors, they both have a full range of capabilities (battery charging, DisplayPort 1.4, charging gadgets, 10 Gbps file transfer, USB hubs), there is no lack of USB-A for connecting external devices either (there are 3 of them), HDMI gives versatility for an external monitor, and microSD cards can be read without an adapter. Audio devices can be connected via wire and Bluetooth. An anti-theft lock for home use is not particularly relevant. The speakers point downwards.

Comparison with the Ninkear A15 Pro laptop model (2025) made in the same form factor, with the same screen matrix (BOE NE160QDM), but on AMD chips (namely Ryzen 5 7430U + Vega 7 with 16/1024 GB).

The laptop turned out to be tenacious, does not glitch, works a little every day.

Dimensions and ports are one-to-one. But the lid at the bottom used to be aluminum too. But the logo has become colored.

Internal Structure and Upgrade Options

The device is easy to disassemble:

A lot of screws (PH slot) and a few latches.

The layout is typical: SoC cooling with heat pipes and a low-profile fan, replaceable DDR4 SDRAM RAM (2 slots available), there is a second slot for SSD storage (PCIe Gen 3.0 x 4). The main WUXIN G5 1TB drive is a SATA interface. The battery is larger than stated in the specs by the manufacturer - 3 cells of 7 Ah with stored energy of 79.8 Wh.

The RAM can also be transferred to DDR5, if there are sticks on this format, the bus can also supports up to 64 GB.

We experimented with a second SSD, installed an Orico V500 of the Troodon series for 256 GB - data transfer corresponds to PCIe 3.0 x 4:

Screen

The BOEhydis NE160QDM-NY2 IPS matrix supports 120 Hz refresh and 100% coverage in sRGB, the visible screen size is 345x216 mm.

The value of Pixel density is 189 ppi.

There are no problems with viewing angles, the image does not disappear even if the sun is shining.

Hardware and OS

BIOS Ninkear N16 Pro surprised with an abundance of settings:

Let's look at the hardware parameters of this model.

Processor from Intel i7-12700H (release in 2022), 7nm process technology, DDR5 memory supported. The core holds up to 100 ° C. From the competing brand, the analogue is the eight-core Ryzen 7 5700X (but the heat package will be 65 watts).

The model of 14-core processor allows you to run several resource-intensive applications or virtual machines at the same time without a noticeable decrease in performance.

It is expected that the cooling system actively work to remove 45 watts at 100% load:

There is no overheating (both core and case) and throttling of the CPU, but in some places there is little noisy. Now. Let below talk about the Intel graphic part:

This model supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.6, Vulkan and is suitable for watching 4K content.

We tested the gaming capabilities with the built-in graphics test in the game GTA V (FHD 120 Hz), below are performances:

The gameplay goes without freezes. Let now have a look on memory buses and processor cache:

The performanceof DDR4 is quite good. However, the standard SSD drive will not please with speed, the limits of the SATA interface are 600 MB/s.

But there is enough space to install programs and store files. Plus, it is possible to install your own SSD of the familiar NVME M.2 2280 format.

Wireless interfaces work flawlessly (Realtek 8852BE card).

The device comes already with a  Microsoft Windows 11 Pro preinstalled and ready to be used.

Testing

Let's start with the autonomy test.

If you reduce the brightness to 50% (it's still comfortable), it will be enough for 4+ hours.

And a full charge from the standard charger takes 3 hours 10 minutes.

Next, let talk about the performance tests in familiar software (Balanced Mode) listed below:

  • Cinebench2026
  • PCmark 10
  • Passmark
  • 3D mark

Conclusion

The Ninkear N16 Pro laptop has proven to be a sturdy office computer, it is not just a tool for performing routine tasks, but a full-fledged mobile workstation for solving complex software issues. The emphasis is on the screen (2.5K 120 Hz is ideal for working with graphics, tables and presentations) and processor performance (code compilation, video editing, etc.) and multitasking.

We would like to note a wide range of ports (2 full-featured Type-C), a fast fingerprint scanner, and access to the motherboard components through the bottom cover, you can easily expand the RAM and install a second SSD, which represents a rare feature in modern laptops actually. The delivery set is complete (with a mouse), and even the sewn-in office software was taken care of.

But there are also somes compromises (there is a shortage of chips) - a standard drive in the SATA interface, DDR4 RAM (although DDR5 is supported), and not the most record-breaking autonomy (including due to the powerful central processor). And it's clear that integrated Intel UHD Graphics isn't for demanding gaming or professional 3D rendering.

This laptop model is not a gaming monster or an ultrabook for 12 hours of work, but a working "senior employee" , always ready for business, collected, functional and does not let you down at any crucial moment.

N16 Pro is sold on different trading platforms, the price in the official Ninkear store for OZON is less than 50 thousand rubles....
