Experience Extreme Portability: Ninkear N15 Air Entry-Level Laptop

Modern computing demands have catalyzed the evolution of lightweight entry-level laptops, with devices under 1.5kg that blend affordability, mobility, and essential productivity features.

Ninkear N15 Air Entry-Level Laptop, designed for students, mobile professionals, and budget-conscious users, this machines prioritizes core functionality without premium price tags. It emergence addresses the growing need for "anywhere productivity" in hybrid work and learning environments.

This laptop is quite enough for office work, for studying or for watching videos. The filling is enough to sit in the browser, and make up signs, and call on Skype and watch YouTube. And for many, this is more than residual. In addition, the energy-efficient processor has good autonomy. And the excellent IPS screen does not cause discomfort. Well, the only drawback is that a plastic case is used here, and there is no Type-C. But all this is not a problem, given the price tag.

Now, let together discover this product technically by analyzing conducted tests, disassemble process, evaluate and the whole evaluation.
First, let start with Ninkear N15 Air packaging:

Packaging & Picking
As usual, Ninkear Brand is doing very well with the packaging. The laptop is protected from any misfortunes during delivery. The first protective layer is a dense shipping cardboard. Under which there is already the main dense box of the laptop. The box has complete information about what is inside: which model and in what configuration.

With the configuration, the manufacturer, as usual, did not skimp, despite the low price of the laptop. The kit includes a laptop, 1 a 36W (12V\3A) power supply, 1 mouse and even 1 mat. Well, as usual, with of course a manual.

Ninkear N15 Air has a gray body that visually resembles an aluminum alloy. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that this is plastic. Well, the price is appropriate. The design is as strict as possible, the only "decoration" is a metallic logo on the lid. There are no other eye-catching elements here.

On the underside of the laptop we have a grille for air intake into the cooling system, three rubber feet, and a service sticker. And, which is not typical for modern laptops, a hatch for accessing the SSD (I will show it in more detail below when I do the disassembly).

The hinges are medium in rigidity, when opening, the base must be held with the other hand. The laptop received a popular screen size with a diagonal of 15.6" and thin bezels on the sides. At the top and bottom, they are wider, but we still get a gorgeous screen-to-front ratio of 91%.
There is a webcam built into the upper frame.
The keyboard takes up 2/3 of the free space. There are separate arrows and an additional number block, but the buttons are not highlighted in any way in the general array.
The buttons themselves are large, with a soft stroke. As an author, it was quite convenient for me to work with the keyboard, to type texts on it.
There is a three-level backlight of the keyboard: minimum, medium, and maximum brightness levels. The backlight can also be turned off completely.

The rubber feet are high enough so that when the laptop is on a table, for example, there is a gap to take in enough air for cooling. Although in fact, the processor installed here, I can't say that it's hot.

The device has two ports USB 3.0, one port DC power connector and a Mini HDMI port for connecting an external monitor, a 3.5mm Headphone Jack, a Micro SD card reader.

And that's all for the ends. There is nothing on the front and rear ends. Therefore, open the lid and see what is under it.

Under the lid there is a very good and nice Large Touchpad, with a Fingerprint sensor, and a full-size keyboard. With the help of the sensor, you don't have to waste time constantly entering a password for authorization.

It is fully supported in Windows Hello and works instantly. You can add several different fingers, including those that are not your own. So that not only you have access to the system...

Laptop screen & webcam

The quality of the webcam is not amazing, but it is a standard 720p, which is more than enough for video calls. Well, most likely, no one will shoot video with this camera.

When changing the angle and tilting, the colors do not change. Even the black color remains almost unchanged.

When changing the angle and tilting, the colors do not change. Even the black color remains almost unchanged.

And such a screen is very pleasing. Because Ninkear used to save on screens. Now they understand that we spend a lot of time in front of the monitor, and a high-quality matrix is not a whim, but a real necessity.

Disassembly to Evaluate Components

By unscrewing a couple of screws, the user can independently replace the RAM and storage. And at the same time, it will not lose the warranty, because there is no need to remove the entire pallet and tear off the seal.

The RAM here is DDR 4, a 16 GB die with a frequency of 3200 mHz is installed. D4 is listed as the manufacturer, but the chips on the die are from Micron. There is only one slot for RAM. The second slot in this case does not make any sense, since the Intel N95 works with memory only in single-channel mode.

Hoodisk 512 GB NVMe SSD. SMT2263ENG controller, NW956 memory chips from Micron. The disc can be changed in the future, after all, its volume is not very large by modern standards. For those who are used to collecting photos, movies even listing music on your laptop, then it is better to look at a larger drive. Well, for study or work, a standard drive is enough for the eyes.

Battery at 44, 892 Wh or 5800 mAh at 7.74V. To the left of the battery, you can see a small WiFi antenna.

An additional board with connectors is connected to the main one using a flexible cable. Next to it, you can see the fastening of the loop. Even though the exterior of the laptop is made of plastic, the hinges are attached to the metal frame and are securely fastened with screws. To the right of the hinge, a boxed speaker was placed. It is the only one here, so stereo is out of the question. Although the sound does not sound flat, because it is possible that two drivers can be placed in the case itself. In any case, for the stereo effect, the distance between the drivers is not enough. To be able to watch a movie or video on YouTube, it is quite enough.

The WiFi module is signed as AzureWave AW-CM25INF, but usually something else is hidden under the screen. For example, it can be a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377. Only a utility like HW Info 64 will tell you more precisely.

Display

Despite the low cost of the model, Ninkear did not save too much on the screen and installed an IPS matrix with good viewing angles.

According to the Moninfo utility, a panel manufactured by HKC with the identification number MB156CS01-8 is used here.

This is a 15.6" IPS panel with Full-HD resolution, a typical brightness of 250 nits, 45% NTSC color gamut and WLED backlighting.

No dead pixels or anomalous areas. This is the case when there is nothing to praise or scold for. Probably, for a state employee, this can even be considered a plus.

Tilting the screen up and down does not affect the quality of the picture in any way. Colors remain as saturated, there is no distortion. Inside view, there is a slight glow effect and a decrease in contrast.

On the black field, you can see the backlight leaking in the corners. The uniformity of the white field illumination is not very good, the difference between the brightest and the dimmerest area is more than 20%

The ripple coefficient at all brightness levels is at its minimum. That is, the WLED backlight does not flicker, and its brightness is regulated by reducing the voltage.

Photometry confirmed the declared brightness level of 250 nits. The color rendering index Ra is 66.8, the color temperature is 5500 K.

Modulation is only 2.5 – 3%, and even then at very high frequencies, i.e. there is no PWM here.

BIOS and Hardware Information From HW Info

AMI's popular Bios Aptio Setup is partially unlocked and has a huge number of settings. Some can be changed (mainly those that have 2 modes - enabled or disabled), some cannot.

But even from the point of view of obtaining information, climbing through the settings turned out to be useful. In particular, you can evaluate the temperature points at which different fan speeds are turned on. In our case, it is 55 degrees and 71 degrees. At 95 degrees, throttling is activated. You can also see information about the power limit settings: 35W for a short time, 15W for a continuous load.

A huge plus is the licensed operating system Windows 11 Pro. For this alone, Ninkear N15 Air can be bought. Everything works out of the box, updates come.

The fingerprint scanner works and significantly increases the protection of sensitive data. At the same time, touching the scanner is much faster than entering a password. Recognition speed and accuracy are high.

Synthetic Tests

It operates in PCIe 3.0 x4 transfer mode via NVM Express interface (NVMe 1.3 standard). There is no temperature sensor, so it will not be possible to assess the heating (the value of 40 degrees does not change). The drive is new, turned on only 9 times (at the time of the test), and the total operating time is 13 hours. SMART values are normal.

The speed of the drive was tested twice: with a data volume of 8 GB and a data volume of 64 GB. In the first case, it received 1632 MB/s for reading and 1478 MB/s for writing. In the second case, the indicators decreased slightly: 1617 MB/s read and 1263 MB/s write, which indicates a decrease in performance when working with large amounts of data (most likely due to heating). In principle, this is a common result for an inexpensive SSD on a SMT2263 controller.

Below are benchmarks for overall CPU and graphics performance. In Geekbench 6: 1220 points in single-core mode and 2946 in multi-core mode.

In Cinebench R23: 854 points in single-core mode, 2563 in multi-core mode.

PC Mark - 3298 points. Its absolutely typical figures for Intel N95.

Stress tests

To assess the effectiveness of the cooling system, this work used various stress tests. To warm up for 30 minutes, the test spun Aida's built-in test, as a result, it was not possible to warm up the processor above 62 degrees. The CPU clock is stable at 2.7 GHz, the thermal package is 11.17W.

The test was passed in 25 minutes with no errors or failures with a best performance result of 64.6739 GIPS

User tests

Often, inexpensive laptops install outdated WiFi modules that do not have a high speed of operation. In our case, everything turned out to be pretty good, because there is WiFi5 support. In the 5 GHz range, the laptop is capable of providing 250 Mbps for both download and upload.

This is for hardware support for Codecs for video playback. Here is the complete set, including the AV1. And up to a resolution of up to 8K. Naturally, at Full HD screen resolution, there is not much point in playing 8K, but the fact itself inspires respect. And again, it is possible to connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI and there you can already watch the quality that your TV supports.

In order not to be unfounded, we show here the available quality resolutions on YouTube videos. I chose the maximum 8K quality.

Also tested 4K at 60 frames per second, the video plays smoothly.

From the drive, the playback of High-Bitrate Films was tested. If the movie is in HDR, then there is an automatic conversion to SDR. Even "heavy" movies with a stream of more than 50 Mbps are played easily and naturally, with a CPU load of about 6% and graphics of 17%.

In terms of gaming, the laptop has nothing better to offer than simple online projects like DOTA2 or Hearthstone. But this is already something if you want to play a little. For example, the full version of tanks (not blitz) works well on low graphics settings with an FPS of over 90. You can still play with the settings and slightly improve the graphics, achieving a comfortable 60 FPS. Well, of course, old hits like GTA5 will also work with an FPS of more than 30.

And the webcam is only nominally present here, its resolution is 0.3 megapixels. Although, probably, it was stupid on my part to expect something so cheap.

Final Conclusion

Ninkear N15 Air is a typical Entry-Level Laptop. There is nothing supernatural about it, because it is a solution that was created for simple tasks, such as reading Internet pages in a browser, working with text and tables, or communicating in social networks. Also, thanks to hardware support for Codecs, N15 Air is perfect for watching movies or videos on YouTube, as well as for video editing using the proprietary QSV acceleration technology. The laptop is suitable for home use, online learning, or simple work from home or at your office or even during your traveling...
