Ninkear has launched a convertible laptop with a large touchscreen designed for comfortable use in any position. You can use it as a traditional laptop, flip the display into tablet mode, and rely on the built-in gyroscope to automatically rotate and align the screen to match the device’s orientation.

Packaging & Picking

The laptop comes in an absolutely simple box containing the name and information about the model inside. Inside, everything is packed with cardboard inserts and molds so that the device is not damaged during transportation.

The packaging includes a traditional mouse pad, an optical wired mouse, and a power supply to charge the battery.

Ninkear YBOOK 15 Design

The device has a classic design, which generally does not differ from the average laptop. The only thing that gives it away is a slightly larger slot in the place where the lid hinges are attached.

On the left side there are the following connectors:

  • Power connector;
  • Type-C;
  • HDMI;
  • USB 3.2.

On the right side there are:

  • Power button;
  • 2x USB 2.0;
  • Ethernet;
  • Headphone jack.

The hinges of the laptop are more massive than those of ordinary classic laptops. They should allow us to rotate the lid depending on our preferences. The cover is held quite firmly, you can leave it in the place that is convenient at the moment and the hinges will hold the display stable and firm.

At the side of the laptop, located in the opposite direction from the user view position, you can see a large ventilation hole for the cooling system in the form of a grille.

For work, we use a touch screen, a keyboard (by the way, I note a convenient tactical response for typing) and an impressive touchpad. The surface of the case here is completely plastic, both inside and outside.

Traditionally, in laptops, the top row of keys is functional for performing quick actions (adjusting brightness, volume, turning on backlit keys, and special Windows functions). In addition, we would like to note the presence of a full-fledged Num block. Enter is narrow, but gamers will note the full-fledged arrow buttons. There is no second Enter. The size of the keys is perfect for typing 16x16 mm, plus they do not have a nasty budget rattle, so those who work with texts and numbers will appreciate this laptop. A large touchpad of 138x87 mm makes it possible to control the system without an additional mouse.

The 15-inch laptop screen comes with a thin bezels. On the right and left sides there are 4 mm frames, the frame on top is 6 mm. The upper frame is additionally decorated with chamfering on both sides, so that the camera and microphones are on a kind of island.

The bottom of the laptop is plastic, with a perforation unit to cool the processor. The laptop stands on four rubber feet. From the general plastic, metal-painted cover, only the cover of the thin Ethernet connector stands out.

The assembly is screwed, the splines are classics for a "Phillips" screwdriver. Rubber feet in the form of pads take up little space. Through the perforation of the cooling system, the CPU cooler peeks through.

The top cover is also made on plastic This model stands out for the design of the top cover. The surface of the plastic is divided in half in unequal parts. Most of it is flat matte with a logo applied in the corner. The second part is rough.

The purpose of roughness is not clear to me personally, at first we thought it would be better to hold in the hand in tablet mode, but in this case the cover is located inside, so it is not clear, let's chalk it up to a simple decorative stylistic solution. The NinKear logo is not applied very well.

Exploitation

The tablet is very convenient and can be used and provided full comfort: this is a classic machine for work, a device that you can also use to watching videos or even making some work presentations. Here once it opened you can rotate it at 180°or get a full fledged at 360°. As we have already written, the lid is perfectly fixed in any position, holding the selected position firmly.

In tablet mode, the gyroscope functions perfectly. The screen orientation adjusts automatically based on how you hold the device, allowing you to use it comfortably in both horizontal and vertical positions.

For easy operation, we were given a 15-inch IPS display with a budget matrix with a touch screen with support for multi-touch for 10 touches. We will immediately note not the most amazing brightness when working in the open sun. There is a matte display, which is good, but the display dims in the bright Kuban sun. It is enough for a room of this level, but the matrix, in my opinion, is still budgetary.

Used where light is turned off, When viewed from the side, the colors are not distorted and the brightness practically does not sag, and which is very convenient to use not only alone for work, but also when watching movies from the outside (several people). Touch for 10 touches.

Judging by the AIDA64 data, the CSOT T9 matrix is used here, this is the designation of TCL CSOT (full name: TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Company Limited), a well-known Chinese manufacturer of displays, with FHD 1920x1080 resolution, and also 60 Hz frequency.

The keyboard comes with a backlight function and which represents a plus.

The Ninkear YBOOK 15 laptop runs with Windows 11 Pro OS system on an AMD Ryzen3 3250U processor.

The Realtek 8821CE chip which is responsible for over-the-air communication works on two bands and giving a speed of up to 280 Mbps.

This speed is enough to watch video up to 4K. The battery makes it possible to watch video in 1080 with a time duration estimated to 2.5-3 hours. Not enough, but the touch screen is more energy-consuming than classic screens.

The SSD drive speeds are budget-friendly, about 500 MB/s for reading and writing.

Geekbench gave quite predictable results. This power is enough for base games such as tanks or Dota 2. Of course, you should not count on more. But it fully covers classic office functions: office, presentations, surfing, reports, tables, video calls, and many other works.

Cinebench R23 echoes the results of the previous benchmark, putting the performance of this processor above the Intel Core i-4850HQ and slightly below the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X. The CPU temperature at maximum load reached 94°C.

On the stress test from CPU-Z, the processor warmed up by 94.5 ° C. The software confirmed the use of the RAM of the already rather outdated generation DDR4.

This Ninkear YBOOK 15 laptop has enough performance to handle any remote work that doesn't require a lot of processing power. But you can use it right in any position, even in the office, even on a swing on the beach. A special pleasure from work is given by his freedom to transform from a laptop into a tablet. To check, let's run Counter Strike 2. At the lowest level of graphics and a low resolution of 720p, it produces about 30 FPS, which is not comfortable for an effective game, but it is quite possible to stretch your fingers while tearing yourself away from work.

Inside the laptop there is a 512 GB M2 SSD drive from an unknown manufacturer, a GOWE RAM stick on SKhynix boards for 16 GB and there is the possibility of installing another RAM stick (it will be 32 GB). The battery is 5000 mAh at 37 Wh.

Inference

The device turned out to be quite understandable. This is basic performance that covers office tasks, a quite effective cooling system and a chic option for transforming a laptop into a tablet. The built-in gyroscope allows you to instantly change the position of the image as you like. We would like to note a good high-quality backlit keyboard with a full-fledged NUM unit.
